I Feel Special, how about you?
Well I didn't expect this kind of response from my blog.
I'm happy to see that you people are reading it and I want to thank you for your interest.
Today I would like to talk about the crusades.
I don't mean the crusades of 1096 A.D. but I mean the crusades that are currently going on.
Its no secret that our president seems to be an imperialist, but as a nation is is our duty to question this.
Too many people have told me that they actually believe that it is Bush's intention is to spread democracy to the middle east.
I however feel that it is a religious crusade.
Bush has already been proved to have lied to us about this war in the past (weapons of mass destruction) about this war.
The idea of spreading democracy to a country that is so used to a dictatorship wont work. In a recent survey in Russia people were asked if the would prefer freedom or a strong leader and the vast majority chose a strong leader. You can also use Mexico as an example, they have a constitution that mirrors ours but do you think its as effective?
basically all I'm saying is that to have a working representative democracy the people are the ones that matter as to who really believes in it. Remember everyone, your the ones that power a democracy so raise your voices and take a stand.

I am not a fan of Bush at all. However, if his vision of some sort of democracy in Iraq came to be that would be ideal. The hope is that the citizens would rise up and other countries would follow. At this point it seems almost impossible. But if it worked there would be a chance for some sort of peace in the Mideast. As Americans we should all hope for this.

You are right to dispute this, Noah. "Spreading democracy in the middle east" is only Bush's latest excuse. He went to war with a country that was no threat to us for one reason alone - oil.
You cannot force democracy from the barrel of a gun. Since Bush & Co will never understand this, it will be up to our next president (a Democrat) to take a different approach.
It's a planet, not an empire. Good post, Noah!
I agree that we as Americans should all hope for peace in the Middle East. Whether or not things do work out in Iraq really depends on how one would define things "working out". In my opinion, an Iraq in which the government is not run by religious fanatics is the best thing to hope for, and I believe such a government would be a great boost to Middle East peace. I have strong doubts that the current U.S. approach will do much other than aggravate people of Islam and cause them to want to join a jihad.
I would also agree with anyone who suggests we need to question the current approach being offered by the Bush administration, and that we should question the administration in general.
